Abstract

Yaldabaoth is intended as a playful extension and creative critical response to John Fowles’ A Maggot and Sarah Perry’s The Essex Serpent and to the trope of supposed harbingers of the apocalypse at times of social upheaval, allowing examination of more modern concerns through this lens.

Using textual fragments, discovered documents and the epistolary form, Yaldabaoth is a future history of climate collapse, armageddon, apocalypse, false gods and fossils.
